Bio

The future cannot be disposable. When we address waste, we also confront climate change, environmental injustice, and public health. By stepping back to examine the full life cycle – extraction, production, disposal –  of the “things” in our lives, it becomes clear that our waste system is not accidental. Rather, it’s the product of short-sighted policy decisions favoring convenience and profit – at the expense of people and the planet. As a lifelong environmental advocate with a background in anti-plastics work and the founder of an organization advancing a plastic-free future in Colorado, I believe lasting change must be built from the ground up and reinforced by strong, equitable laws. Communities and local businesses are powerful incubators for Zero Waste solutions. Investing in reuse infrastructure strengthens local economies and reduces pollution.

As a Staff Attorney at Just Zero, I provide legal analysis and advocate for laws and policies that reduce waste and advance community-driven solutions rooted in equity and accountability. I also offer educational and technical support to advocates, community leaders, organizations, and decisionmakers working to implement and expand Zero Waste initiatives.
