Work With Us

Outdated waste systems pollute, rather than protect.

That’s why Just Zero works to advance community-centered Zero Waste solutions – so people across the country have access to sustainable systems that enrich the environment and our lives. While Just Zero may be the new kid on the block, our spirited, spunky team of advocates have years of experience working for transformative change. And as we grow, we will continue to harness staff members’ unique skills to carry out our mission.

Just Zero operates within a fully remote environment that allows us to position our people in areas where we can be close to the action and have the most impact.

At the Center of What We Do

Our staff and their distinct talents make Just Zero possible. That’s why we’ve built a supportive, collaborative, and safe work environment where everyone can be their true selves, and where all ideas are shared and encouraged.

People as People First – The well-being of our staff is a top priority for us. As such, Just Zero offers competitive compensation plans that are fair and equitable. We also have a comprehensive benefits package in which Just Zero covers 75% of all health and welfare benefit premiums for employees.

Our health coverage includes medical, dental, prescription, and vision. In addition to four weeks of vacation time for all staff, the whole organization always has the second week of August off and the week between Christmas and New Year’s off. Other benefits include sick leave, bereavement time, a disability benefit package, a retirement plan, company sponsored life insurance, and more.

As a 501(c)(3) organization, Just Zero is a qualifying employer for purposes of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program.

Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion – We view Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion not as a separate component of our work, but as the overarching lens through which we move toward a more just and sustainable society. That’s why Just Zero is committed to incorporating these values into all aspects of our work. That includes organizational decisions, program priorities, team conversations, hiring, internal and external communications, and organizational growth. Learn more.

Equitable Hiring Practices – Recruiting diverse talent is a priority for Just Zero. As such, all job postings, interview processes, and onboarding practices will be developed and implemented through a just, equitable, diverse, and inclusive lens.

Transparency – All plans, strategies, decisions, schedules, and salaries are open and accessible to all team members. Nothing is secret, nothing is hidden.

COVID-19 VACCINATION POLICY

As a remote-based organization, we ensure the health and safety of all team members by limiting in-person contact. However, there may be occasions where staff will meet in person, and if required, our policies establish guidelines and protocols to ensure protections for the health and safety of everyone.

Just Zero recognizes the vital role COVID-19 vaccines play in keeping ourselves, and our communities, safe. The importance of in-person activities (travel, court appearances, staff meetings, etc.) highlight the need for us to be up to date on our vaccinations against COVID-19.

Just Zero, therefore, requires our staff to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment consistent with applicable law. Fully vaccinated means everyone has received all recommended COVID-19 vaccines, including any booster dose(s) when eligible, as per CDC guidance and company policy. Consistent with applicable law, staff may be asked to provide proof of vaccination.
